Pamela Macatee

Pamela’s intention as a painter is to speak to the elegance of place and object; to use paint as a means to capture an image and then to reduce the noisy elements in landscape, botanical or interior subjects, by breaking down busy images into an economy of shape and hue. “I love a quiet place. I love to have the brain space to allow my mind and my eyes to soak in the images of my world. In the same manner, the image I want to paint must also speak to my need for simplicity and peace. Our world is a busy, loud and cluttered place. I can paint those elements out, leaving only lovely positive and negative shapes, made with colors that love to be together...” Painter and avid gardener who is fascinated with color, inspired by music, good reads and lessons to learn, Pamela works from her studio with windows that let in the woods of Northeast Georgia, where she lives with her husband Van, dog Tuck and friendly wildlife.
